Welcome to Plumsted
Plumsted Township is a municipality located at the westmost point of Ocean County, sharing borders with Monmouth and Burlington Counties. It was originally named after Clement Plumsted, an English quaker from a distinguished family with ties to several prominent persons in early Philadelphia. Although he was granted nearly 2700 acres of land in what is now known as Plumsted Township, he never got a chance to step foot on the land, as he never travelled to America.

If sipping fine wine or monster truck races aren’t your idea of a good time, don’t give up on this quaint town just yet…
New Egypt is also home to the Colliers Mill Wildlife Management Area, a 12,000+ acre wildlife management area in the Pine Barrens. Nature enthusiasts can spend the day hiking, horseback riding, kayaking or even bird watching. Colliers Mill has been designated as an IBA (Important Bird Area) by the National Audubon Society due to the large number of birds that can be found nesting here.
