Along the northern edge on Monmouth County, sitting on the southern banks of the Raritan Bay is the small town of Union Beach. The municipality is surrounded by Hazlet, Keansburg, and Keyport and suffered a lot of damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Despite the destruction the town experienced, it has gone through much restoration and even though it only covers less than 2 square miles it has a lot to offer.

Along the waterfront is the Fireman’s Park where kids can play while visitors can honor firefighters in the area. Just a short bit up Front St. is the parking for the Beachfront Walkway where people can enjoy a quiet stroll along the water. A few more steps north and you’ll find the local staple Jakeabob’s Bay. With tons if indoor as well as outdoor seating where you can appreciate the view, it’s not hard to see why it’s such a popular spot. Just prior to the Union Beach Pier is the Union Beach Armed Forces Memorials.
Being a small town does not prevent Union Beach residents from enjoying delicious food. If you love an Irish Pub, you’ll want to visit Dowling’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. For delicious Italian, the Anchor Inn has dishes that will make any mouth water. Chef David Burke also has a restaurant in Union Beach called The Goat and it is a local favorite. Other great local spots that keep the town happy and well-fed are Ader’s Tavern and Stubby’s Deli.
