The town’s name refers to its historically rural roots, and that history can still be experienced at nearby nature getaways such as the Manasquan Reservoir, Bear Swamp, and Allaire State Park, all of which offer miles of scenic hiking and biking trails. Both boast great learning opportunities, too, such as the Historic Village at Allaire and the Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center.
