Though Route 36 offers immediate access to stunning shore towns like Sea Bright, Monmouth Beach and Long Branch, you don’t need to leave town to have a great day or night out. Highlands has fantastic dining along Bay Avenue, with cuisine ranging from Italian to seafood and more. Head down to the waterfront to access Raritan Bay from Highland’s array of marinas, or venture up the bluffs to enjoy the amazing view from the Twin Lights State Historic Site.
Highlands has the advantage of being in its own corner of the state – literally! – while also having easy access to some of New Jersey’s prime destinations. Check out the stunning views, cocktails, food trucks and live music at The Sandbox at SeaStreak Beach. Or jump on the SeaStreak ferry to Manhattan for a 45 minute ride through the Sandy Hook Bay and under the Verrazanno Bridge.
