The westernmost town in Monmouth County is Allentown. This borough lies just outside the limits of Mercer County and is surrounded by large areas of farmland. As soon as you enter Allentown, you get that “small town” feel. It has a quaint, walkable Main St. with a variety of shoppes and boutiques and an extensive number of historic homes that proves their love for historic preservation.
Many of the community events held in Allentown are hosted by The Allentown Lions Club. They put on events like Easter egg hunts, Memorial Day parades, fishing tournaments, runs, and golf outings. There are few towns that do a Main St. as well as Allentown does. Next to scenic Conines Millpond, visitors can enjoy many delicious eateries and shops. The Moth Coffee House, Heavenly Havens Creamery, and Woody’s Town Cafe provide patrons with treats to satisfy any hunger. Shopping includes stores like Petunia’s Baby Boutique and Tinkerbeee’s Toys & Comic Store. Plus, there are specialty stores like Bloomers Floral Studio and Bruno’s Bicycles.
