The Township of South Brunswick is appropriately located below the Township of North Brunswick. The northern border of town is also shared with the Township of East Brunswick while the eastern edge lines the Township of Monroe. Below South Brunswick is the Township of Plainsboro and Cranbury Township. The 42-square mile town has 23 developed parks and over 1,168 open space areas. In addition to the township parks, there are four additional parks owned and operated by Middlesex County and the State of NJ including Davidson’s Mill Pond Park and Pidgeon Swamp State Park.
The South Brunswick Department of Parks and Recreation has programs for residents of all ages to take advantage of many of the parks and fields. They offer summer camps, sports programs including baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and cricket, and even a chess club with lessons and classes for kids. Adults of all ages can enjoy Jazzercise classes, slow-pitch softball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer teams. They also have programs for special needs youth and adults. Just a few miles away from Woodlot Park, where the Dept. of Parks and Rec building can be found, is Reichler Park with the South Brunswick Skate Park.
Three major highways run through South Brunswick. Both Route 1 and Route 130 are the addresses of many of the towns retail locations, businesses, and warehouses. The close proximity to Princeton University means there are multiple hotels on the southern end of Rt. 1 while the northern end runs through a lot of open space including Woodlot Park and Beechwoods Park. The Exit 8A Park & Ride for commuters using the NJ Turnpike is on Rt. 130.
