The Borough of Spotswood was incorporated in 1908 when it split from East Brunswick. It is bordered by the other Middlesex County townships of East Brunswick, Helmetta, Monroe Township, and Old Bridge. Residents largely live in single-family homes, but the town also has multiple townhomes and condos as well as a senior living facility.
The Spotswood Recreation departments mission is to “Reach every citizen.” Their fall and winter programs include basketball, floor hockey, soccer, volleyball, and a running club. Spring and summer introduce flag football, arts and crafts, t-ball clinics, tennis, football, and basketball to the community. This group also puts on a number of events for the town. Things like an Easter Egg Scramble, a Tree Lighting ceremony, bus trips, and a Santa ride are all common occurrences each year. The small 2.4 square-mile town also maintains 5 parks and courts.
As with most small towns, Main Street is where you can find most of the commercial buildings and businesses. Banks, churches, the town post office and fire department are all located on Main St. Add to that home maintenance companies, local eateries alongside national chain restaurants, and all types of other small businesses and this street has everything residents need.
