Allenhurst began on the site of a 120-acre farm owned by Abner Allen in 1895. It is bordered by Deal Lake and the Atlantic Ocean on two sides and the other small towns of Interlaken and Loch Arbour. As small as Allenhurst is, it has a stop along the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line providing easy access back and forth to New York City.

The Allenhurst Garden Club plays a big part in what adds to the beauty of Allenhurst. They take care of planters along two of the town’s main streets and maintain a perennial garden at the beach club. Due to their expanding club, their contributions have grown to include the renewal of the Centennial Park Colonnade and Memorial Gardens on Main Street. Every other year, the club holds “The Porch and Garden Walk” which helps to fund the projects and gardens the club oversees.

Even in a small town like Allenhurst, you can still find a park to enjoy. In this case, it is along Lake Drive. The waterfront park includes a kayak launch site, a walking path, and a playground. Just on the other side of the street is the quaint downtown district. Craving something sweet? Check out Cravings Dessert or Urban Pops. Have a hankering for Italian or pizza? Allenhurst Serpico’s is here to satisfy your hunger.
