Middlesex Borough is in the north west corner of the county. The town was originally part of Piscataway until 1913 when it was incorporated as a borough. This little township has a very active senior center that assists “residents aged 60 and older and their families, as well as disabled residents who receive Social Security.” The center provides information and help with federal, state, and county benefits. In addition to informational assistance, the center has exercise programs, medical transportation, home delivered meals, vaccine clinics, and group trips.
The Middlesex Community Pool can be found behind the high school. Both residents and non-residents can apply for a membership. There are many different levels of membership to suite everyones needs and as every county pool should, there is a snack bar with yummy summer treats. Parties can be held here and they have a swim team and offer swim lessons.
In addition to the fun activity at the pool every summer, Middlesex Borough also has many parks and fields. Kids will always have a place to play because there are jungle gyms in every park and at almost every sports field. Baseball players, soccer players, and basketball players also have their pick of location to meet up with their friends and play games. The park spaces also let visitors enjoy the outdoors with fishing, walking paths, and grilling stations.
On rainy days, you can visit the Middlesex Public Library. They have many fun programs for kids like Touch-a-Truck events and boredom buster bags. Other programs include quilt making and sign language groups. The Friends of the Library is a group that helps to fundraise for the library and also holds free events. The library also makes it super easy for everyone to browse their shelves online and reserve a book on the website, by email, or on the phone.
